Gillian Hamnet | Director
Gillian is a book trade professional with twenty-five years’ experience in the industry. She worked as a bookseller, branch administrator and store manager for fifteen years in the UK and Ireland, before working for a national charity. She has extensive experience of building and staff management, and of running commercial and third sector premises as dedicated training hubs. Running events and working with venues has been a big part of Gillian’s career, and she has considerable experience of working with volunteers and performers, marketing and social media, access and inclusion, and health and safety. Gillian moved to Wigtown in 2018, and now works as a freelance editor and publishing consultant, as well as volunteering with the annual Wigtown Shindy and The Wigtown Ploughman.
“I love living in Wigtown, seeing first-hand how local events and projects can inject vitality and growth into small communities. I’m also acutely aware of the fragility of rural towns and the amenities which help them thrive. I’m delighted to be involved with an organisation that builds long-term community relationships and opportunities.”
